Every once in a while a bastardization of a designer’s work crosses their desk. This “iteration” of mine would top my list. Five stars, booyah!
One of the quintessential features to any country or mountain road are the collectives of mailboxes that dot the landscape every few miles, similar to the one I found alongside Highway 133 near Carbondale, Colorado and the campground I stayed at this past weekend. The uniquely generated addresses of painted, written, scratched and sticker letterforms adorn rusted, worn, and chipped mailboxes create the directory of the nearby residents. Low-fi, re-appropriated and utilitarian design of each mailbox is what makes these collections so attractive to me. Below are a few that stood out from what I found.
