While a bit of belated news (I’ve been a bit swamped as of late putting pencil to paper and slaying pixels), this year’s Bordo Bello was one hell of an event. I participated in the event two years ago and it is quite impressive to see how the show and auction has grown exponentially in such a short time. In the end, I wrestled with my piece to get to the point which I considered it finished. In doing so, I learned a lot about working with wood-stain, its potential and limitations while spending some welcomed time creating something with my hands. The wood may have reached its limit as to how much stain it could handle, but like I envisioned, I made it shine like glass.
I am extremely flattered that my piece was the runner up for the People’s Choice Award and am as equally humbled that my piece found a good home. Right on for the event, the people who put a lot of hard work into running it and those that it benefits. I look forward to next year as well as potentially creating a few more pieces derived from the direction I took with my board.
